THE THERAPIES
Cranio-Sacral Therapy
Cranio-sacral therapy is a gentle hands, hands-on technique that prioritizes the restrictions in the membranes that surround the brain and the spinal cord. By utilizing techniques derived from osteopathy and the research and teaching of John Upledger, D.O., a touch of 5 grams allows us to perceive the rhythmic wavelike motions of these membranes through the cranio-sacral system. By addresseing the lack of symmetry, amplitude, or quality inherent to this movement, we support the body’s own tendancy towards homeostasis, or self-regulation.

This work can benefit not only pain syndromes, and chronic and acute conditions, but also address cellular memories and emotions stored in the body. Cranio-sacral therapy is usally performed with the client clothed, and on a massage table, and is appropriate for people of all ages, from babies to elders.

Swedish Massage

Swedish massage is one of the most popular forms of massage in North America. Oil is warmed by the therapist’s hands and applied to the recipient’s skin to facilitate the stroking and kneading of the body, thereby stimulating metabolism and circulation. Swedish massage can:

  • relax muscles
  • improve circulation
  • increase range of motion
  • relieve pain and discomfort
  • shorten recovery time from muscular strain
  • help the recipient obtain a feeling of connectedness and well-being.

We use only the finest quality massage products including essential oils which add another therapeutic dimension to the massage.

Hot Stone Massage

Hot stone massage is an ancient modality that invokes a connection with the earth. Hundred, perhaps thousands, of years ago, Tibetan monks used heated stones during fasts, and Native Americans used them for their grounding properties.

The dark rounded volcanic stones are quite special. Created during volcanic eruptions, the movement of lava through air causes a smoothing of their surface. They retain heat/cold and slide easily over the skin. We warm them to 125 degrees Fahrenheit, and use essential oils and massage oil as a lubricant. This is a 90 min treatment which focuses on deep relaxation and grounding.

Sound Healing
The vibrations and tones emitted by the striking and ringing of pure quartz vessels creates a resonating effect on the restrictions in the body and in the energy fields of the human being. This resonance then entrains incoherent patterns to a higher, more aligned, vibration. Clients experience a sense of the sacred, and a connection to their own divinity.

Holistic Psychotherapy

Holistic psychotherapy is about learning to be well. Happiness and well-being depend not only on good fortune but largely on psychic balance. Wellness can be learned.

Most people have not learned much about managing their emotions in a healthy way. We learned from the models we had in our childhood and we developed coping strategies to survive as best we could. Sometimes these patterns do not serve us well as adults, but we don’t know how to manage any other way. It helps to have a witness to sort out what is not working for us anymore.

Generally, we decide to undertake a therapy because we are in a difficult situation or relationship. In order to find our inner peace, we will explore the problem from all perspectives: mental, emotional, physical and spiritual. The therapist guides the exploration using dialogue and various other tools of inner awareness. These may include: visualisation, dream work, conscious breathing, sound and movement, or bodywork as deemed appropriate.

The results of a holistic psychotherapy usually include, not only an improvement in the original problem situation but a general improvement in our peace of mind and an increased capacity to manage our emotional life in a balanced way.

Holistic psychotherapy is available to individuals, couples and groups.

Energetic Harmonisation

Cranio-sacral Energetic Harmonisation works with the emanations from the 7 subtle energy fields that surround and envelop the physical body. By creating harmony in these fields and by intervening with other energetic structures of the human (such as the energetic heart, the seat of consciousness, the karmic heart, the charkas, the shushumna) clarity and greater comprehension become manifest in a daily life. This work invites awareness of oneself on an energetic level and most clients experience a sense of “loving lightness” in their inner being.

This modality can be experienced in a single session as needed or undertaken as a therapy which will allow the practitioner to accompany the client on a spiritual path.

Thalassotherapy
The virtue of mud as a therapeutic adjunct has long been known. Here, at the Clinique Colibri, we utilize a combination of Moor mud and essential oils, specific to each clients needs. Moor mud is anti-inflammatory, detoxifying and regenerating. The essential oils used will depend on the client’s state; for example: someone with respiratory tract difficulties will benefit from eucalyptus; someone with stress issues, lavender; someone with chronic fatigue, mint and lemonbalm. Our bath is equipped with therapeutic air jets.

The separate steam unit, where one is seated, can also be used in conjunction with various essential oils.

Our wraps can be done with mud, algae, or clay, and once the “incubation” completed, clients either enter the bath, or the shower, depending on their preference. The medium used in a wrap will depend, again, on the clients needs, and skin type. The overall effect is one of relaxation, where the lights are dimmed, music is soft, and the body is warmed.

Memory Integration
Sometimes, life scenarios are inexplicable and more traditional therapies ineffectual. Memory Integration is a way of exploring past life themes, and how they relate to everyday living. By inducing a guided state of relaxation, images emerge from the non-conscious, and conclusion and solutions are discovered.

Bach flower therapy

Bach flower therapy is a holistic approach aiming the healing of the mind and body. The 38 remedies discovered by Dr.Edward Bach are entirely prepared from wild flowers, shrubs or trees. None of which are hazardous for the health, nor do they create any form of dependence. They aid in restoring a harmonious state of mind, and promote emotional well being. They heal the mind and emotions. These remedies activate the body’s vital force & restore health.

During a session, the client is attentively listened to, in order to discern any emotional “unbalance”. One or many remedies are then prescribed, tailored to one’s own need.
